Sofía “Fifi” Herrera
Sofía "Fifi" Herrera hails from the American Midwest as the daughter of Latin American immigrants. She holds a B.A. in Global and International Studies, a B.A. in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, and a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Indiana University. In 2024, she launched her artistic career with a self-published zine of over 30 pages of original art and poems, and she now continues to write poetry, short stories, essays, screenplays, and novels. In 2026 she started performing at open mic nights across the Indianapolis metropolitan area. That same year, she began publishing original comics on Instagram, using only ballpoint pen and marker. She speaks five languages and knows over 30 styles of European, American, and Latin dances, her favorites being Salsa, Bachata, and West Coast Swing. Fifi H. draws inspiration from her Latin heritage, Muslim faith, and life experiences to celebrate memory, identity, justice, healing, and intersectionality in her artworks.
